Yellowstone Lake and Lewis Lake Fly Fishing

Yellowstone National Park has over 150 lakes, and fish inhabit 45+ of them. We guide boat trips on both lakes where boats are allowed in the park:

  • Yellowstone Lake: the largest high-elevation lake in North America, and;

  • Lewis Lake: a smaller but equally beautiful lake fed by creeks and hot springs.

Fly fishing on Yellowstone’s lakes is perfect for anglers who prefer to fish from the comfort of a motorized boat, out on the open water.

For spring visitors, the still lake water makes a great option during runoff season.

Join us for a full day of lake fishing in Yellowstone. We provide comfortable transport and all the gear you need for a fun day catching trout.

Lakes We Fish in Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone Lake

Yellowstone Lake covers over 130 square miles and provides world-class cutthroat fishing. With trophy-sized cutthroat trout, this is our guides’ favorite fishery in the park.

The lake’s breathtaking scenery, with its backdrop of towering peaks and thermal features, adds to the allure of fly fishing its pristine waters.

Experience Yellowstone Lake from the comfort of a fishing charter as you cast for the largest wild cutthroat trout population in North America.

Lewis Lake

Lewis Lake is located in the south-central part of Yellowstone National Park and feeds into the headwaters of the Snake River.

Trips on Lewis Lake offer multiple options to explore: Fish the lake itself or motor across to Lewis Channel—between Shoshone Lake and Lewis Lake—where great fly fishing awaits.

We’ll travel with an outboard motor on drift boats, searching for 16- to 20-inch trout in these stunning connected bodies of water.
